Chapter 79.2

“Well then, I hope you enjoy your time,” the waiter said, offering a polite smile before stepping away. The plan was already starting to unravel.

“This… it’s for you,” she stammered, extending the flowers to Hyun-seong.

“For me?” he echoed, surprised.

“Just take it for now,” she insisted, flustered. “And… excuse me for a moment.”

With a sense of urgency, Yi-soo signaled to the oblivious waiter that something was amiss. “This isn’t right,” she muttered as she retrieved the ring box from her bag, her heart pounding in her chest.

In her mind’s eye, the scene had played out with more romance and finesse. But as a novice in matters of love and proposal, she could only stumble through, her determination overshadowing any sense of embarrassment.

Facing Hyun-seong, who held the bouquet, Yi-soo took a deep breath and opened the box, revealing a simple yet elegant silver ring nestled inside.

“Even if it doesn’t seem like it… bear with me,” she said with a nervous laugh. “I had hoped for something better. Hyun-seong… Will you marry me?”

“Yi-soo,” he began, his tone gentle.

“I know,” she interrupted, her frustration evident. “The proposal totally flopped. Should we try again next week? Or would you rather take the lead? Ugh… this is so not how I imagined it.”

Yi-soo’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment as Hyun-seong, still holding the bouquet, lightly tapped her cheek with his finger.

“You brought out the wrong ring. This one seems to be your size,” he remarked, a hint of amusement in his voice.

“Oh… how embarrassing,” she muttered.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Hyun-seong appeared unfazed, almost as if he had anticipated this moment. With a quick exchange, Yi-soo retrieved the correct ring from another box and subtly lowered her chin, awaiting his response.

“Marry… me?” she repeated, feeling a pang of self-consciousness.

“I had intended to propose myself, but you beat me to it. I brought these just in case,” he confessed with a soft chuckle, revealing two more boxes from his briefcase.

As Yi-soo opened the boxes, her eyes widened at the sight of the dazzling diamond rings nestled inside. The brilliance of the diamonds left her breathless, her heart quickening with excitement.

“Okay. Let’s get married, Yi-soo,” Hyun-seong declared with a smile.

“Hyun-seong…” she whispered, overwhelmed by emotion.

“I ended up with two rings. Feels like I love you twice as much, which is nice,” he quipped, sliding the diamond ring onto her finger with playful tenderness.

As Yi-soo slipped on the ring she had prepared, it appeared somewhat comical to wear two rings on her left finger. Yet, as Hyun-seong had remarked, it filled her heart with a sense of double joy.

“When did you prepare all this…? You must have been busy with work,” Yi-soo marveled, her eyes glistening with emotion.

“I told you. My priority is always you, Yi-soo,” Hyun-seong replied, his voice filled with sincerity.

“Put it on me too,” he added softly, extending his left hand to Yi-soo with a subdued smile. As she slid the ring onto his finger, she couldn’t help but ask, “It’s beautiful. Do you like it?”

“Of course. You gave it to me.”

Hyun-seong’s ring fit perfectly, as if it had always belonged to him. As they admired the two rings adorning their ring fingers, their eyes brimmed with affection.

Gently picking up the bouquet of flowers he had placed nearby, Hyun-seong lowered his head and inhaled deeply, savoring the rich scent of roses. It was a gesture he had always made for her, but now she received them in a different light.

“Yi-soo,” he began, his voice soft but filled with conviction.

“Yeah, Hyun-seong?” she replied, meeting his gaze with warmth.

“My life has always been colorless. It was a world of black and white,” he confessed, taking her hand in his.

“But you, you’ve painted my world with colors,” he continued, his eyes reflecting the love he felt for her. Clad in her red prosecutor’s gown, Seo Yi-soo brought vibrant hues into Yoon Hyun-seong’s life—the color of love. With her, every day felt like a rainbow.

“I love you,” Hyun-seong declared, the words carrying a weight of emotion that resonated deeply within both of them. It was a simple phrase, yet its significance was immeasurable. A confession so sweet that it could warm even the coldest heart.

A soft laughter escaped Yi-soo’s lips, her eyes shimmering with joy. Despite the twists and turns of life, Hyun-seong remained the one who could evoke both tears and laughter from her.

The corners of her eyes curved delicately like a crescent moon as she whispered, “I love you.” Each syllable carried a surge of emotion, filling her with a bubbly sense of happiness.

Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, Seoul’s night view sparkled like a canvas adorned with countless stars. In that moment, surrounded by the city’s dazzling lights and the embrace of their love, Yi-soo and Hyun-seong felt as if they were part of something truly magical.
