“Can we start sending Sasha to the training facility today?” Kirine asked Ares the next morning, chewing on a piece of toast. He nodded, placing a similar piece with strawberry jam and a glass of orange juice in front of Sasha.
“That should be fine,” he replied.
“I feel much more at ease now,” Kirine said. The thought of taking Sasha to the imperial palace the other day had exhausted her. Ares, however, seemed a bit disappointed.
“Wasn’t it fun?” he asked.
“Hardly,” Kirine replied.
Ares smiled playfully, his blue eyes sparkling. Kirine frowned. Seeing her genuine displeasure, he burst out laughing.
“Stop laughing and get ready for work,” Kirine said curtly. Ares’ smile widened, becoming even more smug.
His personality is just awful. Kirine decided to ignore him. Only then did Ares lose interest and rise from his seat.
“Are we playing hide-and-seek with the bag again today?” Sasha asked, her face full of anticipation. She knew it was almost time for Kirine and Ares to head to the palace.
“No, today we’ll go hand-in-hand,” Kirine replied.
“Can I come with you?” Sasha asked eagerly.
“Of course,” Kirine answered.
When Kirine mentioned they didn’t need to sneak around anymore, Sasha smiled brightly and eagerly drank her orange juice. Ah, so adorable. It was a simple act, holding the glass with both hands. But the sight of her tiny, leaf-like hands gripping the glass firmly was so cute that Kirine couldn’t look away.
I really need to get divorced somehow… She had no intention of living with Ares forever. Ares probably felt the same way. But Sasha weighed heavily on her mind, making the divorce difficult. And with the Emperor’s request to stay together for at least a year, it seemed unavoidable for now.
If only we could find the true culprit behind the incident. Then, they could officially divorce, and Kirine and Ares could part ways. But what will happen to Sasha? Kirine glanced down at Sasha. Unaware of the situation, Sasha happily swung her short legs back and forth, enjoying her orange juice. I want to take her with me. When the divorce happened, Kirine wanted to make sure she could take Sasha with her.
In truth, they hadn’t spent that much time together. Technically, it had been about six years, but with her lost memories, it was still difficult for Kirine to fully accept Sasha as her daughter.
However, despite everything, Kirine couldn’t help but feel a warm affection for the child. Every time she saw Sasha, she was filled with a sense of pride and love.
Yes, when we get divorced, I have to take Sasha with me, Kirine thought to herself, nodding.
Just as she made up her mind, a voice sounded from behind.
“What are you doing?” Ares asked.
“W-what? When did you get here?” Kirine replied, startled.
“Just now. But what’s with that face?” Ares questioned, squinting his blue eyes at her.
“What’s wrong with my face?” Kirine asked defensively.
“Why were you smiling so strangely?” Ares continued.
“You’re being rude,” Kirine said. Though she quickly returned to her usual expression, Ares continued to stare at her intently.
“Could you stop staring? It’s uncomfortable,” Kirine pleaded.
“You definitely had a scheming look just now,” Ares accused.
“What scheme? There’s no such thing,” Kirine denied, getting up from her seat. But she could still feel his piercing gaze, so she hurried her steps.
